Hummingbird Drones™ is a BC-based tech company that, since 2015, has pioneered the use of drones in the wildfire space. Our innovative technology, our techniques, and our passion for delivering the highest quality products has helped us grow to become the market leaders in Canada. After our busiest fire season ever, and an increase in operations demand province-wide, we are expanding our products, upgrading our capabilities, and growing our team.

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Field Crew position is a versatile role designed to work outdoors, in the field as both a team leader and crew member. You’ll be responsible for mission planning, ensuring the crews are prepared to drive and navigate major highways FSR roads & trails, safely operating drones and other equipment, communicating with clients & managers, problem-solving with limited access to cell/internet connection, and ensuring the capture of high-quality data that we will use to make the detailed, accurate maps we are known for.

    This is a part-time/casual or full-time position based in Kamloops, BC. Our busiest season is spring/summer.

    $22 - $25/hour. Wage is dependent on relevant experience

    Wildfire wage of $350 - $450 per day

    What we are looking for:

    Self-motivated & quick thinker with excellent situational awareness

    A background in wildfire, search and rescue and/or forestry is a strong asset

    Experience in drone operations is considered an asset

    Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are essential

    An affinity for field work, being outside and travelling

    Proven dynamic leadership of small teams

    Strong attention to detail & a high level of organization

    Curiosity & a desire to continue to learn

    Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license

    Occupational First Aid + Transportation Endorsement

    This is a casual position that could become full-time by the spring. Spring and summer are our busiest seasons.
